45 YEARS OF STALKER , TARKOVSKY’S MASTERPIECE

A Masterpiece by Tarkovsky.

“Stalker” is a 1979 science fiction film directed by the renowned Russian filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky. It’s considered one of his masterpieces and is noted for its philosophical depth, visual style, and atmospheric storytelling.

The story is loosely based on the novel “Roadside Picnic” by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, who also co-wrote the screenplay. The film is set in a dystopian society where a mysterious and restricted area known as the Zone exists. Inside the Zone is a place called the Room, which is said to grant the deepest desires of anyone who enters it.The protagonist, known as the Stalker, is a guide who leads people through the dangers of the Zone to the Room.

In the film, the Stalker takes two clients: the Writer, who seeks inspiration, and the Professor, who appears to have scientific motives.Themes”Stalker” delves into profound themes such as Existentialism and Human Desire.

The film explores human longing, the nature of desire, and the essence of human fulfillment.The characters’ journey reflects a spiritual quest, questioning the role of faith and skepticism in their lives.Tarkovsky plays with the concepts of what is real and what is perceived, creating a dream-like, meditative atmosphere.
