TEN QUOTES ON THE BIRTHDAY OF SIGMUND FREUD !

Freud

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
SIGMUND FREUD, One of the
highly influential plus
controversial minds of the last
century,who altered the various
parameters, hitherto held as
sacrosanct,in understanding
human psychology, Was born
this day,May 06, 1856 in
Frieberg,Moravia in Austrian
Empire,into a family of
merchants
having limited resources,yet
adequate for a decent
upbringing of a child!
Freud’s family shifted to VIENNA,
Where Freud had spent his early
life,got his education rounded
with a degree in medicine from
the University of Vienna And
started working in a
government
hospital there.
Not quite satisfied with his
job,he ,on a scholarship, had
moved to Paris and it was there
that his interests in human
psychology grew plus widened
under the expert guidance of
then famous neurologist,JEAN
CHEROOT.
Freud returned back to
Vienna,opened his private clinic
and started working with his
friend,JOSEF BREUR,who had
worked on patients suffering
from severe psychological
ailments ,hysteria et.al !
Both parted ways after Breur
had
found Freud’s excessive reliance
upon sexuality as a potent
means
to understand the root of all
psychological disorders,as not
an acceptable or reasonal point!
Freud started experimentations
on both, himself as well as his
patients and had employed
various innovative methods in
unravelling the workings of
human minds.
He laid emphasis upon dreams
as
another reality and through
dreams tried to corelated a
patient’s present life.
He invented a new methodology
termed as COUCH THERAPY,in
which a patient was made to
seat and relax on a reclining
comfortable bed and asked to
narrate the past disturbing
memories,painful
incidents,wishful
things,suppressed
thoughts,craziest
dreams,wildest
fantasies and so on,an analyst
was to jott down these things
by
sitting in a friendlier way beside
the patients.Those notes were
to
be analysed in order to reach at
the roots of a patient’s
psychological maladies!
The method thus applied and a
few more components plus
tools
of unravelling human minds
and
problems by the way of
catharsis
of sorts, Came to be termed as
PSYCHO-ANALYSIS!
INTERPRETATION OF DREAMS
was
Freud’s seminal book.
ID and EGO, THREE ESSAYS ON
SEXUALITY,CIVILIZATION. . . . . .,
PSYCHOPATHOLOGY OF EVERYDAY
LIFE are some of his other
notable works.
Freud in his later life came to
London where he died on
September 23, 1939, by an
excessive dose of Morphine as
per his wish for a permanent
peace from the unbearable pain
he had been undergoing due to
a severe throat cancer!
Today,FREUD WOULD HAVE BEEN
157 !
Let’s celebrate his birthday by
