TODAY MARKS THE BIRTH
CENTENARY OF ALBERT CAMUS, One
of the most original minds in
modern times !

A brilliant exponent of the theory
of Absurdism, Camus was born on
7th November 1913 in the then
French occupied portion of Algeria
into a soldier’s family.
His father died in the world war
and he therefore had to spend his
childhood in financial difficulties
along with his mother in the city of
Algiers where he had had his
formal education that got him a
degree in philosophy .

An Author-Activist , Camus Initially
Enrolled Himself Into The
Communist Party Only To Be Fed Up
And Disillusioned Later -a prime
cause behind his bitter rift with
Jean Paul Sartre!

Camus Remained Active Politically,
First As A Part of The Freedom
Struggle That Wanted Freedom
From France And Later As An Active
Member of The French Resistance
Movement Against The Nazi
Occupation !

Author of Some of The Most
Influential Books of All Time( THE
STRANGER, THE PLAGUE, THE
FALL. . .THE MYTH OF SISYPHUS),
Camus Worldview Was Rather
Bleak And For Him A Character
Howsoever Good Has To Face The
Inherent Social and Cultural
Absurdities of The Contemporary
Time And The Inevitable Change It
Has To Undergo As The Result!

Camus Got The Nobel Prize For
Literature In 1957 -becoming the
youngest literature laureate till
then !

He Died Rather Young At The Age
of 47 On 4th Jan. 1960 At
Burgundy, France!

His Was A Rather Fresher Plus
Newer Approach To The French
Literature And To The World
Literature In General !
His Contribution To The Literature
As Well As Other Forms of Art Is
Immense And Still Remains
Relevant !
