WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS (W.B.Yeats) , One of the greatest poets of the last century in any language, Was Born This Day, June 13, in 1865 in Dublin,Ireland,to a landowners’ family which was also very much fond of arts,especially, Painting (Yeat’s Father and Yeat’s Elder Brother , were noted painters ) !

Rarely One Could Find Such Variations In Themes, Techniques, Styles of Poetry Compositions In Any Language, As We Find In Yeats’ ! His Was A Towering Persona In The World Literature of 20th-Cent. !

Yeats Started Composing Poems During The Last Years of 19th-Cent. And The Perceptible Influences On His Writings Could Well Be Noticed For His Poems Were More Lyrical And Very Romantic In Thematic Aspects! He, During Those Early Days of His Literary Forays, Was Much Influenced By Poets Like Spencer, Shelley and Pre-Raphaelites Poets !

YEATS IS HAILED AS ‘THE LAST ROMANTICS’ on the basis of his early proclivity towards the Tradition of English Romanticism.

Yeats’ Poems Took A Sharp Turn In The Early Decades of 20th-Cent. As He Had Shown Good Deal of Interests In Realism And His Poems Bore Such Transformations.

Yeats Is Also Hailed As THE FIRST MODERNIST !His meeting with EZRA POUND, the american literary godfather who had come from the states and settled down in Paris n London And Had Successfully Changed The Course of Literary Engagements For Once n All, Had Brought Radical Shifts In His Poetry Writings,That Came To Highlight The Modernist Sensibilities -something that reached perfection under ELIOT & JOYCE !

W.B.YEATS GOT THE NOBEL PRIZE FOR LITERATURE IN 1923–the first Irishman to hv been awarded the Nobel !

Yeats greatly contributed in reshaping the Irish Cultural Consciousness, which was a movement of sorts, aptly termed as THE CELTIC REVIVAL OR RENAISSANCE !

He died at 73 in 1939 and his importance is simply ever lasting!
