ERNEST HEMINGWAY,THE AMERICAN NOVELIST AND SHORT-STORY WRITER WAS BORN ON JULY’ 21, 1899 IN OAK-PARK,A SUBURB OF CHICAGO,IL,USA.
A childhood full of outdoor activities,like Fishing, Hunting, and other sports that were challenging and required masculinity ,HEMINGWAY’S WRITINGS ARE A WHOLE LOT DOCUMENTATION OF THESE OUTDOORS ALONG THE CENTRAL AXIS OF HEMINGWAY’S MOTIF OF THE GROWING SENSE OF DISILLUSIONMENT AMONGST THE MASSES,especially,THE YOUNG AND RAW YOUTHS IN POST-WAR AMBIENCE IN EUROPE AND AMERICA !

After having had his graduation from the high school,HEMINGWAY,who was merely 17,Started his career as a Journalist in the newspaper,KANSAS CITY STAR.
Hemingway remained a journalist most of his active life and he,in fact,had acknowledged the positive impact Journalism had had upon his style of writing!
He went to Europe as a War-Reporter for KANSAS CITY STAR n Later for TORONTO STAR to cover the two world wars n The Spanish Civil War.
He also volunteered as an ambulence driver ferrying the wounded from the battleground to the hospitals.

HEMINGWAY SPENT CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF TIME IN VARIOUS EUROPEAN CITIES,chiefly, PARIS,MADRID,PAMPLONA.

HEMINGWAY HAD GOT A FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE OF WAR AND ITS DEVASTATING IMPACTS,BOTH :PHYSICALLY AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY ON THE HUMANITY AT LARGE!
He worked as a Red Cross Volunteer As An Ambulance-Driver during the first world war and had observed the lasting debilitating effects on soldiers’ psyche .

‘THE SUN ALSO RISES’ or ‘FEISTA’ was his first important published work that tells the story of Expatriates Living In European Cities,chiefly Paris.
THE GENERAL THEME OF DISILLUSIONMENT IN POST WAR ERA IS A RECURRING FEATURE IN THREE OF HEMINGWAY’S BOOKS NAMELY , ”A FAREWELL TO ARMS” , ”FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS” and One Non-Fiction,”DEATH IN THE AFTERNOON”.

‘BULLFIGHTING’ OF SPAIN AND ‘SAFARI’ OF AFRICA were two of his fav. Interests that found resonance in his books.

Hemingway, during 1920s ,while living in Paris with his first wife(Richardson Hadley),met many stalwarts of Art n Literature like James Joyce, Ezra Pound,Gertrude Stein,Ford Maddox Ford,Pablo Picasso n the likes.

‘THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA’ was his most famous novel,rather novella that tells the story of an old man and his hardships and adventures of fishing.

HEMINGWAY GOT THE NOBEL PRIZE IN 1954.

HEMINGWAY USED TO EMPLOY A RATHER SIMPLE OR ‘STRIPPED-DOWN’ VERSION OF LANGUAGE, AND ,HE WOULD ALWAYS EFFECT ‘ECONOMY OF WORDS AND DICTION’.
This simple language of Hemingway’s works made an enormous impact on the way a novel ought to be written!
Hemingway Is Regarded As One Of The Most Influential Novelists Of 20’th-Century.

FOUR TIME MARRIED AND WITH MANY AFFAIRS ALONGSIDE,HEMINGWAY LED A RATHER COLORFUL LIFE.

During his last years of life, HEMINGWAY BATTLED BOUTS OF DEPRESSION AND HAD HAD HALLUCINATORY FEEL.
The Great Novelist Shot Himself on July’ 2, 1961 at the age of 62.
