JEAN PAUL SARTRE : A FEW THOUGHTS ON SARTRE’S BIRTHDAY!

Jean Paul Sartre would have been 107yrs old today.SARTRE IS HELD AS THE MOST INTERESTING AND CONTROVERSIAL PHILOSOPHER OF TWENTIETH CENTURY.
Sartre was very much an advocate of Multiculturism and Open Free Society.He was very critical of Imperialism,especially the French Colonialism.He did study the abject treatment meted out to colored people in colonies and through his writings,he had always taken potshot at the continental malaise of Superiority.SARTRE WAS AGAINST COLONIALISM AND RACISM AND HAD NEVER BOUGHT ANY IDEA OF JUSTIFICATION BY THE IMPERIAL POWERS.HE VEHEMENTLY OPPOSED THE WESTERN THEORY OF ‘WHITE MAN’S BURDEN’ AS A PLAUSIBLE REASON BEHIND IMPERIALISTIC HEGEMONY.

Sartre approved the use of violence in order to attain rights!
Sartre was very much supportive of Black People’s writings in french and had termed it as ‘THE ONLY REVOLUTION IN FRENCH LITERATURE’ for he viewed it as a way to answer the colonists in their own language. . . .kind of THE EMPIRE WRITES BACK !!

With a life long commitment to arts n literature,he primarily thought works of art as a medium to achieve liberation!

Sartre was very much supportive of FEMINISM.He always encouraged his life long partner,herself a meritorious writer and guided her write ‘THE SECOND SEX’ – -Her Magnum-Opus that had left an everlasting impact on the feminist movement in its second phase!

SARTRE HELD HIS THEORY OF ‘EXISTANTIALISM’ AS HUMANIST AND CALLED IT : EXISTANTIALISM IS HUMANISM.

SARTRE CONTINUES TO INFLUENCE GENERATION AFTER GENERATION!
